Abstract

The article inserts the problem of the collective property belonging to the medieval
Serbian law into the context of the Byzantine law; moreover, it considers the study of its history as an instrument able to understand also the split existing between the ownership and the use of the land in some contemporary legal systems, as Italy, former Jugoslavia and China.
