Curie e magistrature cittadine in Italia nel VI secolo attraverso le lettere di Gregorio Magno
Abstract
In this paper, we analyze some letters from Pope Gregory the Great that testify to the persistent obligation of appending documents to the acta municipalia of certain urban centers. It follows that in many urban realities of Italy at the end of the 6th century, the curiae were still active in the notarial field, tasked with registering wills, bequests, donations, and property transfers. Furthermore, we examine the functions and role of two city magistrates mentioned in the Registrum Epistularum.
Keywords : Curiales, principales, primores civitatis, notabilato, Italia bizantina.
