Archeologia e mondo contemporaneo: quattro opinioni su La materialidad de la historia

AA. VV.

Abstract

Changes in the contemporary world are questioning the meaning of archaeology, forcing archaeologists to face the
economic crisis, the perception that the common people have of the past and the request by politicians to produce
socially useful knowledge. The adaptation strategies that scholars are developing are not without risks because if the
conversion of archaeology into a social resource can lead to challenging perspectives it also creates problems. This
contribution, edited by Umberto Moscatelli, contains four different points of view of the book La Materialidad de la
historia, focusing on the the role of Archaeology at the beginning of the XXI century.
