Produzioni ceramiche enotrie. Nuovi dati dalle necropoli di Tortora

Maria Sergi

Abstract

This paper shows preliminary results of my PhD research which concerns the burial goods of the Enotrian necropolis
located in Tortora and dated between 6th and 5th century B.C. The study defines some features of the indigenous pottery
related to the matt-painted tradition and the cultural influences of the Greek world. The ceramic repertoire, which
mainly consists of vases used for drinking, for pouring and mixing drinks, shows the importance of the symposium in
funeral ritual and it underlines cultural and social differences between groups of people within the community.
