Temesa: nascita, sviluppo e declino di una comunità indigena dell’Italia

Gioacchino Francesco La Torre

Abstract

This paper analyzes the case study of an indigenous community, defined by the historical sources as Ausonian, which
develops under the Greek presence, which can be located in the area of Serra Aiello-Campora San Giovanni. Nowadays
that center can be identified as Homeric Temesa, during the Classical age under Sibari and Crotone’s control and
eventually destroyed by Locri, before being occupied by Brettii and becoming Roman maritime colony.
