Le acropoli in Magna Grecia e Sicilia: disamina delle fonti e attestazioni archeologiche

Abstract

The present work is focused on the analysis of the acropolis concept in Magna Grecia and Sicily, which has developed
from a preliminary analysis of the occurrence of the term akropolis in the ancient sources. This work has allowed to
identify a multiplicity of meanings and functions attributed by the ancients over time. Subsequently, the acropolis of
the most emblematic cases are analyzed from a formal and functional point of view and compared with the literary
sources.
