Caratteri formali e funzionali delle “acropoli protostoriche”: una selezione tra area egeo-anatolica e Italia continentale

Sara Marino, Francesca Germini, Silvia Merletti

Abstract

The focus of this paper is a formal and functional analysis of the acropolis models in the Aegean-Anatolian area and
mainland Italy between the Aegean classical EH II and the Italian Early Iron Age (early III millennium-VIII a.C.).
This analysis derives from the Seminar Study held in 2017 at the graduate school of Archeology in Matera. During
the seminar study it was decided to extend the acropolis examination also towards proto-historical chronological horizons
to try to establish to what extent and in what way the acropolis model was then used. The wide geographical
and chronological scenario considered in the paper will highlight the main differences found, which do not allow to
trace a common model, but offer interesting food for thought connected with the socio-economic developments of the
communities to which they belong.
