Sistema di classificazione delle forme ceramiche prodotte a Herakleia lucana nel III secolo a.C.: nuove applicazioni
Abstract
This paper aims to compare local pottery products of the second half of the 3rd century BC with other materials found
in Herakleian houses, sanctuaries, and tombs. The authors present some new data. In light of recently published finds
from Laos and Civita di Tricarico, the evidence from Herakleia offers new insight into the chronology of 3rd century
pottery production along the Ionian Coast. The authors attempt to draw a new picture of Herakleia’s economy during
this period, questioning the “3rd century crisis” as hypothesized in a series of older publications.
