La necropoli arcaica occidentale di Policoro in loc. Madonnelle. scavi 1977-80

Abstract

This study examines the results of excavations carried out by Mina andriani and irene Berlingò in 1977, 1979 and 1980
in the municipality of Policoro, Madonnelle, on the property of colombo, west of the Barone hill, where a necropolis
from the archaic age was found. The prevalent rite was cremation, in amphorae, pithoi and other containers of Greekoriental import. The examined group (62 burials) is datable between the end of the viii century B. c. and the end of the vii century B. c.
