L’abitato di Piani della Corona, aree S-F (Bagnara Calabra, RC): nuovo contributo alla conoscenza del Bronzo antico nel basso Tirreno
Abstract
The settlement of Piani della Corona is currently the only one in Calabria extensively investigated and with stratigraphic
accuracy, for the Early Bronze Age (EBA). Furthermore, it is a very relevant case for the study and determination
of a wide range of cultural behaviors. This is also due to the discovery of a complex of inhabited structures. Furthermore,
the presence of at least two cremation burials, inserts the context into the problems related to the development
and diffusion of the ritual in the Mediterranean area. Finally, it allows the investigation of multiple socio-economic and“cultural” aspects, given for example the very high percentage of the obsidian and the typological characteristics of theceramic finds, which attest to a prevalent relationship with the Eolian and Sicilian areas, allowing to characterize moments of influence and assimilation. The site is also fully inserted into the problem concerning the definition of the characteristics
of the Calabrian EBA, still in the phase of delineation, even if increased by the research of the last decades
