Abstract

SVMMARIVM – Confutantur argumenta quae veteres grammatici et viri docti adferunt ut
probare possint ἄγαλμα et ἀνδριάντα picturam pro statua valere.

ABSTRACT – This paper aims to refute the opinion by ancient lexicographers and modern
scholars who argue that in some passages of fifth- and fourth-century literature ἄγαλμα and
ἀνδριάς may mean «picture» instead of «statue».
