DI UN LAGO CHE NON C’È E CHE NON È NEANCHE NERO ovvero PROPOSTA DI INTERPRETAZIONE DEI TOPONIMI DEL TIPO LAKAR- /LAGAR

Abstract

SVMMARIVM – Ex eo, quod in oppido Lucaniae ‘Lagonegro’ nuncupato nullum extare lacum
nec umquam extitisse animadvertimus, orta praesens investigatio ad similiter composita
nomina transit locorum, ubi eandem observamus lacuum absentiam. Quae nomina e Langobardo
lakar originem ducere duplici argumento firmatur, et quod ea loca secundum itinera
sunt disposita, quibus Langobardi Italiam intraverunt, et quod in ipsis Langobardorum finibus
huiusmodi nomina facile inveniuntur.
Diligentior per loca pervestigatio forsitan limitem Byzantinum accuratius definire nos sinat.

ABSTRACT – How from the observation that in Lagonegro the lake does not exist and has never
been there the research originated on similarly composed toponyms which present the same
absence of reservoirs. The hypothesis of a derivation from the Longobard lakar is validated by
the position of these locations along the lines of Longobard penetration into Italy and by the
toponymy of the clearly Longobard territories. A more in-depth study which I plan to carry out
would probably allow us to define the limes with the Byzantines in greater detail.
