LOGOS E TI ESTI IN SOCRATE

Aldo Brancacci

Abstract

SVMMARIVM – Nonnullis locis Platonicorum dialogorum, qui Apologia Crito Protagoras
nuncupantur, sedulo excussis, de quaestione agitur, quidnam Socrates philosophus de λόγος
senserit, quid inter λόγος et τί ἐστιν interesse putaverit, quem denique nexum inter sermonem
et rationem exstare constituerit.

ABSTRACT – Socrates’ philosophy, as far as it is possible to understand from the Platonic dialogues,
especially from some passages of the Apology, the Crito and the Protagoras, provides a
deep analysis of the logos. This concept is tackled with a totally different approach in comparison
to the Sophists, in particular Gorgias. This paper attempts to shed new light on the Socratic
relationship between λόγος and τί ἐστιν, along with that between language and reason, and
that between dialectic and ethics.
