Abstract

SVMMARIVM – Inter viros doctos fere omnes convenit versum 148 Ribbeck3 ex Duloreste Pacuviano
excerptum et hac explicatione a Nonio grammatico exornatum, occupare est proprie
praevenire, esse et sensu et numero vitiosum, sive trochaicis pedibus metiaris sive iambicis;
quem emendare possumus, nostra quidem sententia, parva verborum immutatione adhibita.

ABSTRACT – The article deals with the verse 148 Ribbeck3, belonging to Pacuvius’s Dulorestes
and quoted by Nonius in a paragraph on the meaning of the verb occupare est proprie
praevenire. The authors propose a conjecture and a new interpretation to this fragment,
hardly corrupted with regard to the meaning and to the metrics (interpreting it as a trochaic
or as a iambic verse).
