The Homeric Epithet ἰόμωροι

Abstract


In this paper I re-evaluate the etymology of the Homeric epithet ἰόμωροι,
adducing new evidence for the identification of the first element of the compound
with ἰός, “arrow”, from the comparison with the corresponding Indo-Iranic words.
