Le conclusioni del De saltatione di Luciano. Hermes, dio dell’eloquenza, protagonista di un gioco ricercato per un pubblico di intellettuali

Angela Maria Andrisano

Abstract

The paper focuses on some passages of the dialogue’s conclusions (salt. 85)
to highlight not so much the apparent conviction of Craton willing now to attend a
pantomime show as the indirect praise of a sophisticated and creative rhetoric, that
of an author, assigned to the spoudaiogeloion genre, who loves to play with irony and
paradox in the wake of the iambic-comic production. The paper also pays attention
to the importance of a Lucian texts’ translation that does not ignore only apparently
irrelevant details. In our case it is the public of πεπαιδευμένοι who risks disappearing
from the translations of the dialogue’s ending.
