IL TEATRO DI BEVAGNA. RILIEVO E ANALISI CARTOGRAFICA

Abstract

The systematic reconnaissance of archaeological remains and the critical analysis of structures, carried out
together with the topographic survey of the emerging ruins of the theatre, enabled an approach to the study
of the monument stemming from technical-structural considerations, essential to the reconstruction of the
planimetry of the monument, its paths of access and analysis of the connection between the theatre, the
ancient urban lay-out and the orographic conformation of the location. The topographical positioning of
archaeological emergencies on large-scale maps and the philological reading of historical cartography were
indispensable tools for the study and understanding of the variations in structure and use of the “Bevagna”
theatre.
