QUANDO SONO SCOMPARSE LE ASSEMBLEE POPOLARI DELLE CITTÀ GRECHE?
Abstract
This article tries to answer to a long-neglected question: the end of the popular assemblies in the Greek cities.
Through the analysis of epigraphical, papyrological and literary sources, an original hypothesis begins
to emerge: the Greek popular assemblies might have been abolished by an official act of the roman State in
the age of Diocletian or Constantine.
