FRAMMENTI EPIGRAFICI EDITI E INEDITI DA ROMA: ALCUNE CONSIDERAZIONI E REVISIONI

Giulia Tozzi

Abstract

The Greek epigraphy of Rome still holds pleasant surprises for us today, as regards both unpublished and
already published texts. Moreover, the city offers us the often-unexpected opportunity to bump into fragments
of inscriptions kept in alleys or inside courtyards or private buildings, which, though “on the public
road”, can go unnoticed even to the most expert eye and thus remain forgotten for a long time. This paper
focuses on this continuous and fortuitous possibility of small epigraphic discoveries or rediscoveries, taking
into consideration five examples of inscriptions “hidden” here and there in some “corners” of Rome.
