“CHE CI FACCIO QUI?” ISCRIZIONI GRECHE NEL VI VOLUME DEL CORPUS INSCRIPTIONUM LATINARUM

Silvia Orlandi

Abstract

In the VI volume of the Corpus Inscriptionum Latinarum, a number of purely Greek inscriptions can be
found, published among the Latin texts, apparently in contrast with the main mission of this reference book.
Actually, the authors of the CIL chose not to separate Greek texts found, together with Latin inscriptions,
in the same topographical context. This is particularly true for sacred inscriptions and monumenta columbariorum
integra reperta, where, not by chance, most of the Greek inscriptions published in the Latin Corpus
are concentrated, according to an editorial tradition that should be followed also in the future.
