Abstract

Carmine Pellegrino – Maria Luigia Rizzo – Antonia Serritella

This paper deals with the two main sites of southern Campania in the pre-Roman period (Pontecagnano and Poseidonia-Paestum), which allow for an analysis of various questions relating to the economy of the sanctuaries.

For the Etruscan-Samnite site of Pontecagnano, an overview of the archaeological evidence is outlined: the focus of this is dedicated to the northern sanctuary of Luas, which is particularly interesting due to the economic implications of the ritual practice carried out in this area. With regard to Poseidonia-Paestum, the analysis focuses on the production of ceramics and coroplastics relating to the sanctuaries in the city and the surrounding territory.
