A PROPOSITO DELLE SIGLE Q(- - -) A(- - -) NELL’EPIGRAFE DI TURRIS LIBISONIS MENZIONANTE GLI ATT I DI EVERGETISMO DI T. FLAVIUS IUSTINUS (CIL, X 7954)

Maurizio Giovagnoli

Abstract

This paper examines the appearance of the abbreviation q.a in the inscription., which recalls acts of evergetism
carried out in the Imperial Era in Turris Libisonis by T. Flavius Iustinus (CIL, X 7954). The interpretation
proposed here argues that the abbreviation was not related to an ampliatio nor to the word
quinquennalis, but to the honorary induction of T. Flavius Iustinus into the ranks of those who had held the
duumvirate with censorial powers.
