RICERCHE SULLE PITTURE DELLA VILLA ROMANA DI RUSSI (RA). DA UNA NUOVA DOCUMENTAZIONE ALLA REVISIONE DEI DATI D’ARCHIVIO

AA. VV.

Abstract

This contribution presents the methodology and the preliminary results of an ongoing project for the survey,
cataloguing and evaluation of evidence of Roman painting from the Emilia-Romagna area. The case
study comes from the Roman Villa of Russi, which was excavated and studied in the 20th century. The villa
was established in the countryside of Ravenna at the end of the second century BC and was expanded in
a number of phases over the course of the centuries until the second century AD, becoming a large-scale
complex. The data that have been collected and revised have made it possible to reconsider the decoration of
tablinum 5, and to develop a new graphic reconstruction of the decorative system that allows researchers to
better understand the function of the large reception room.
