Sharon Sabatini, Martina De Giuseppe

Abstract

The Museum of the Near East, Egypt and the Mediterranean of Polo Museale la Sapienza in Rome was reborn
in the Rectorate headquarters in 2015 with the aim of collecting, studying, and displaying artifacts and
copies from the Sapienza archaeological excavations in those areas. The Museum hosts events, conferences,
exhibitions, organizes workshops for children and students, with the aim of disseminating and making the
public aware of cultural heritage and its protection in areas that are often remote and at risk. However, the
pandemic Covid-19 has made necessary to rethink communication strategies, through the involvement of
students from remote to reach the widest possible audience. Based on this first experience required by the
health emergency, the Museum has implemented digital activities, created ad hoc formats, and developed
social content complementary to the visit in presence, capable of optimizing the museum experience.
