Abstract


Twenty–five years (1997–2022) of intense archaeological research and protection of the Cultural Heritage in Palestine
by the Sapienza University of Rome, in fruitful collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities –
Dept. of Archaeology and Cultural Heritage of Palestine (MoTA–DACH), and with the constant support from
the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, have led to the creation of three joint archaeological
missions, one in Tell es-Sultan, which has lasted since 1997, one in Bethlehem, active since 2015 and
one in Tell Abu Zarad which worked in 2015 and 2016. These research initiatives, like other joint projects with the
MoTA (JOAP, PADIS and PAIRR: www.lasapienzatojericho.it), are aimed at the protection and enhancement of
the Archaeological Heritage at the monitoring of archaeological sites and finds and their recovery
