RISOLVERE LA COMPLESSITÀ: GESTIONE E FRUIZIONE DI 60 ANNI DI DATI DI SCAVO DI ARSLANTEPE

Francesco Di Filippo

Abstract

During the last 60 years, the data recovered from the excavations of Arslantepe (Malatya, Turkey) have
accumulated into an invaluable collection of archaeological records characterized by complexity and an
extraordinary variety of archival media. In order to rationalize this documentation, over the last five years, a
joint project between the Sapienza University of Rome and the National Research Council (CNR - ISMed)
has developed a prototype Document Management System (ArsDB, https://arsdb.cnr.it). It offers a versatile
tool capable of keeping track of the wealth of relationships between collected objects, aiming to simplify
processes such as entering new data, retrieving information, and evaluating research hypotheses. This brief
presentation provides an overview of the operational choices made in the design of this original digital repository.
