Abstract

In continuity with the activities of previous CNR institutes dedicated to Ancient Near Eastern studies,
scholars at the Institute of Heritage Science (ISPC) conduct archaeological and philological researches on a
wide range of historical issues, in the framework of the current international scenario characterized by the
increasing use of innovative approaches. The “Vicino Oriente Antico” (VOA) Research Group, territorially
organized between the ISPC branches in Rome and Milan, has recently launched a scientific program that
brings together projects based on a well- established tradition, now tackled with an approach characterized
by the integrated use of different technologies, with the aim of enhancing interdisciplinarity at the highest
level. Our contribution intends to offer an overview of these researches, dedicated to territory and landscape,
material culture, written texts and history of studies.
