Il Santuario di Iside: trent’anni di ricerche 1988-2017 Nuovi materiali dall’Iseo pompeiano

Abstract

Il santuario isiaco di Pompei è da sempre un monumento iconico del sito vesuviano. Sin dalla sua prima scoperta, nel 1774, è sempre stato
meta e oggetto di interesse per studiosi ed intellettuali ed è per tale motivo che dal primo momento l’area su cui il santuario sorgeva fu lasciata
a vista e soggetta ad una particolare tutela. In tempi moderni il santuario è stato oggetto di studio delle ricerche pompeiane volte soprattutto
all’individuazione della prima costituzione dell’area sacra. In questa sede si presentano i risultati di un’analisi puntuale dei materiali archeologici
rinvenuti durante gli scavi operati dalla Soprintendenza negli ultimi trent’anni, cercando di delineare le fasi di frequentazione dell’area dalle sue
origini all’eruzione del 79 d.C.

The Isiac sanctuary of Pompeii has always been an iconic monument of the Vesuvian site. Since its fi rst discovery, in 1774, it has always been a destination
and object of interest for scholars and intellectuals and it is for this reason that from the fi rst moment the area on which the sanctuary stood
was left exposed and subject to particular protection. In modern times, the sanctuary has been the subject of study by Pompeian research aimed above
all at identifying the fi rst constitution of the sacred area. Here we present the results of a detailed analysis of the archaeological materials found during
the excavations carried out by the Superintendency in the last thirty years, trying to outline the phases of frequentation of the area from its origins to
the eruption of 79 AD.
