Abstract

SCIENCE AND METHOD OF GIACOMO MANGANARO
Continuing to live through one's work is certainly the greatest satisfaction for every man. This is the case of Giacomo Manganaro, Professor
of Greek History at the University of Catania. Deep, careful and accurate scholar of ancient history, epigraphy and numismatics, he was
renowned throughout Europe and beyond. As evidenced by the references to his writings by many antiquists and the very recent collection of
his works by S. Garaffo, M. Mazza, C. Molè Ventura Manganaro continues and will continue to be an essential point of reference for the study
of Sicily Greco-Roman and for his epigraphy and numismatics works. This work, a memory of those who have been his collaborator and student
for almost a quarter of a century, intends to give a picture of the scientific personality and offer a profile of Giacomo Manganaro's study
interests and working method, briefly reviewing themes and problems present in its vast production.
