Abstract
The Biblioteca Federiciana of Fano conserves two manuscripts
contained the ponderous historical work of the scholar Vincenzo
Nolfi, which outlines the events of the city from its origins to
1463, the year of the famous siege of Fano by Federico da
Montefeltro. The work, divided into six books and entitled
Delle notitie historiche sopra la fondatione, varietà de’
governi e successi memorabili della città di Fano,
unfortunately remained unpublished but was widely used by
scholars who dealt with the history of the Adriatic city in the
following centuries.
