Caratteri dell’edilizia residenziale tardomedievale in Terra di Lavoro: il caso di Aversa
Abstract
The essay illustrates some late medieval residential episodes in Aversa, a Norman town in Campania. We urban centre of the
“Terra di Lavoro” is characterised by an interesting ensemble of Romanesque and Gothic houses that have resisted subsequent
transformations. We houses in question have been identified through the stylistic study of the portals and windows, the analysis
of the planimetric typologies and the mensiochronological study of the masonry.
The study brought to light several unpublished monumental episodes and made it possible to identify their similarities with
contemporary residences found in other territorial contexts.
Keywords : Aversa, residential construction, Late Middle Ages.
