Abstract


The article deals with the theme of the journey in Catullus with particular attention to poem 4
and its relationship to 64 and the earlier Greek and Latin literary tradition. The significance
of rhetorical dynamics, metonymy and personification, and the relationship with Ennius are
also analyzed.
