Il viaggio intellettuale della Periegesi di Prisciano

Abstract

The paper focuses on Priscian’s Periegesis, by taking into account, more specifically, the
sections of the poem which have a methodological character and the comparison with
Dionysius’ Greek original as well. The identification of different underlying school practices,
such as the translation from Greek to Latin, the poetic reworking of a prose text, the
citational allusion, and the echo of rhetorical exercises, makes it possible to clarify the purely
intellectual dimension of the journey described.
