PRODUZIONE FITTILE A MATRICE NEL GOLFO DI TARANTO TRA ADOZIONE TECNICA E STANDARDIZZAZIONE
Abstract
Matrix clay production in the Gulf of Taranto between technical adoption and standardisation
This contribution focuses on the emergence of a matrix-made craft in Magna Graecia
in the second half of the 7th century B.C. in the Gulf of Taranto, and the accompanying
process of technological appropriation that is essential to establish this practice within the
craft sphere. It is possible to sketch a general picture of the emergence of a new craft practice,
which stimulates a parallel reflection of the history of techniques and the social history
of the Greek communities of the central Mediterranean
