Abstract
Abstract
The essay focuses on the role of anecdotes about the life of Leonardo da Vinci used
by Milan’s painters in Nineteenth century. The history painting created a specifically
narrative and celebrated the myth of Milan during the age o the Sforzas and Leonardo’s

Bertini’s, work Leonardo Leonardo painting the portrait of Beatrice d’Este, is used as a
case study.
