La gens Amullia a Roma, alla luce di un sarcofago inedito da S. Maria Maggiore

Edoardo Melmeluzzi

Abstract

The contribution presents an unpublished urban sarcophagus kept at S. Maria Maggiore
and bearing the sepulchral inscription of L. Ceionius Macedo placed by his wife Amullia
Grapte. The Amullii are not particularly common in Rome, and the article also attempts
to contextualise the attestation of two cinerary urns of Amullii that have emerged from
the antiquarian trade and have recently been included in databases.

Keywords: sarcophagus, gens Ceionia, gens Amullia.
