Considerazioni su un’iscrizione dal territorio dell’antica Scolacium
Abstract
Although little investigated, the Roman colony of Scolacium, between the modern municipalities
of Borgia, Squillace, and Stalettì, remains rich in archaeological evidence in need of further study,
especially for the Late Antique period. In this sense, epigraphic data, though meager, prove highly
significant for a better understanding of the area. This contribution aims to point out some aspects
of one of the few known inscriptions, based on the recent survey campaign promoted by the Pontifical
Institute of Christian Archaeology in agreement with the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Catanzaro-
Squillace and the Soprintendenza Archeologia, Belle Arti e Paesaggio for the provinces of
Catanzaro and Crotone.
Keywords: Scolacium, epigraphy, tribus, Roman onomastics.
