Tracce di attività di cantiere nell’area del foro di Pompei. Dati preliminari

Abstract

Recent investigations, conducted in the Capitolium area of Pompeii, have brought to light important
and interesting data that allow us to reconstruct the complex building phases that affected this part
of the Civil Forum. The analysis of the stratigraphies and the systematic study of the materials found during
the investigations are still in progress. Therefore, in this contribution, in a preliminary way, the data pertinent
to some evidence related to construction activities identified in the area, including a large pit, are presented.
These traces are pertinent to several building phases, one of which can be ascribed to the post-earthquake
period of 62 AD. From these new elements it is also possible to advance some hypotheses on the condition
of the Forum at the time of the eruption.
