Abstract
The painted Punic pottery from Tharros is original in the great emphasis on the figurative motifs compared to
the more traditional linear patterns. The analysis of some of the phytomorphic and zoomorphic themes carried
out in this study emphasizes the autonomy of the Tharros ceramic figurative painting. Moving into the traditional
imagery of Carthage, this figurative painting shares its repertoire with the ceramic production of the North
African metropolis, as well as with Carthaginian bronzes, glyptic and votive stelae.

Riassunto
La pittura vascolare di Tharros di età punica manifesta, per il grande risalto assunto dai suoi motivi figurati, una
spiccata originalità rispetto alla più tradizionale decorazione di tipo lineare. L’analisi di alcuni dei temi fitomorfi e zoomorfi condotta nel presente studio consente di sottolineare ulteriormente l’autonomia della produzione
tharrense che, nell’ambito della cultura figurativa di Cartagine, condivide soggetti propri non solo del repertorio ceramico della metropoli nordafricana, ma anche dei bronzi, della glittica e delle stele votive cartaginesi.
