Antichità della Sardegna, Prof. Gennaro Pesce, in the framework of the archaeological campaigns that he un-
dertook between 1956 and 1964 in the urban area of the ancient site. is paper retraces the discovery of the
sanctuary and its "rst archaeological excavation by analysing both edited studies and unpublished archive data.

Riassunto
Lo studio ripercorre, attraverso l’analisi di documenti editi e inediti, la scoperta e il primo scavo del tofet di
arros (Cabras, Sardegna), messo in luce nel 1962 nell’ambito delle campagne condotte nell’area urbana del
sito dall’allora Soprintendente alle Antichità della Sardegna, Prof. Gennaro Pesce, tra il 1956 e il 1964.
