Et ecce vir, […] qui habebit atramentarium in dorso suo (Ezechiele, IX, 11) Il calamaio in ceramica invetriata nei contesti sacri e sepolcrali

Annarita Martini

Abstract

This paper analyses the glazed ceramic inkwells of the Antiquarium Comunale del Celio, further expanding the research to similar
finds in Rome and Ostia. The relationship between the finding sites and the function performed by the vessels has been considered,
thus suggesting the possibility of seeing the atramentarium as an object of worship, especially in regard of the dead.
