La tomba della gens Valeria: una proposta di ricostruzione e comunicazione digitale

Abstract

The project hypothesis proposed is related to a seven years old girl’s funeral inscription, belonging to gens Valeria, as an opportunity
to discover rites, signs and emotions linked to the history of a place, becoming a personal story. The virtual reconstruction wants to
bring out the social and anthropological aspect of the site, underlining the emotional value of the separation of earth life. The theme is
explored through the combination of different sources – archaeological, epigraphical and literary – giving a key role to the narrative
tradition of story-telling. The immersive experience, supported by visual and sound effects, is divided into two parts: the rebuilding of
the decorative structure of the colombarium and the rievocation, through an avatar’s testimony, of the moments of a roman funeral ceremony.
