Analisi delle fasi costruttive del Sepolcreto della via Ostiense alla luce dei nuovi rilievi

Abstract

Since January 2018, a new graphic documentation has been provided for the Via Ostiense Necropolis. The survey allowed an
extensive structural analysis and precise dimensioning of the ground level for each columbarium. This study connects the lower area of
the Necropolis, visible from Parco Shuster, with the upper area, along the slope of St. Paul Hill, showing their topographical continuity
and chronological relation. The result is a reinterpretation of the ancient distribution of the columbaria within the necropolis, with its
progressive growth at different levels and its peculiar architectural features.
