Recenti scoperte per una mappatura archeologica del Campidoglio

Alberto Danti

Abstract

The paper examines some recent archaeological discoveries that occurred in the Capitol hill during investigations required for maintenance or restoration
works on historic buildings. These consist of Roman structures that may supplement data already known from excavations or archival records. Especially
remarkable appeared the discovery of an ancient cistern under the Belvedere Caffarelli and also the identification of architectural elements in Pentelic marble
that can be traced back to the decoration of the Domitian phase of the Temple of Jupiter.
