Le scoperte sul versante sud-orientale del Campidoglio nei giornali di scavo di Roberto Paribeni e negli appunti di Antonio Maria Colini

Pamela Manzo, Roberta Tanganelli

Abstract

The present article deals with the unpublished archival documents concerning the south-eastern slope of the Capitoline Hill. The analysis of Roberto
Paribeni’s diaries and Antonio Maria Colini’s notes has made it possible to delve into the topography of the hill during the Classical antiquity and later
periods. With respect to Paribeni’s excavation reports, the plan published by the scholar in Notizie Scavi (1919) was updated thanks to graphic processing
and a list of findings, each linked to the corresponding archaeological trench, was included. Indeed, the work of both archaeologists sheds new light on
the stratigraphic and geological features of this part of the hill.
