Temi e forme della polemica antipagana nei Sermoni 53 e 54 di Cesario di Arles

Abstract

In Sermons 53 and 54 Caesarius of Arles uses rhetoric for the
polemics against pagan rites, practiced by the lukewarm Christians.
In Sermon 53 Caesarius places lukewarm in the middle of the faithful
and the heathen, by using parallelism, antithesis and chiasmus. In
Sermon 54 he reinforces his communicative strategy by employing
long enumerations of superstitious practices.
