Abstract


Even though the biographer of Fulgentius was in the best condition

' A(+&8,8) 5,*DE F,G"A"+= &2" 9(,;+'72"+$) '6"/&(A" (578#)"
produces rifts, crediting to Fulgentius virtuous gestures denied
by his own tale. For example, even without mentioning them, he
compares Fulgentius’ spiritual retreat from the world with the ones
of Antonius, Basil the Great and Augustine, who had sold their
goods before the retreat in order to distribute the revenue to the
poor. Actually, Fulgentius neither sold nor distributed anything to
the poor.
