UN APPROCCIO PERCETTIVO AL PAESAGGIO DI HALAESA E DEL SUO COMPRENSORIO TRAMITE APPLICATIVI DI RESTAURO VIRTUALE
Abstract
The archaeological map of Halaesa Arconidea (Northern Sicily) is the starting point to reflect on a new approach to the interpretation
of the territory, integrating GIS applications with softwares used for virtual restoration. This approach is based on
compliance with the regulations set out in the London Charter and in the Seville Principles.
The conversion of two-dimensional orthophotos into a three-dimensional model generated a digital twin of the landscape.
By removing the modern infrastructure and reconstructing the potential landscape of antiquity, both in terms of environmental
aspects and the position of the archaeological sites, we obtained a virtual landscape model useful for new elaborations. Finally, the
aim of this paper is to analyze the the road system around Halaesa; an approach that reveals the potential of this landscape analysis
tool, with important impact also in the dynamics of knowledge dissemination.
