Note sulla ricostruzione tridimensionale di un’unità abitativa a medianum a Ostia Antica. Le strutture delle Casette Tipo (Reg. III, Is. XII-XIII, 1-2)

Abstract

The wide range of possibilities offered by 3D design software have recently stimulated
the interest in this field from archaeological studies, and especially from those of
topography and urban planning. The effort to improve the photorealism that computer
graphics can trasmit thanks to the sophisticated hyper-realistic effects has also
increased the interest from other scientific fields such as those of communication and
dissemination through images. The present reconstruction work is therefore aimed
at understanding the constructive, formal and functional solutions of type of house a
medianum, unique in the panorama of the residential buildings in Ostia. The work was
not the simple volumetric restitution of house structural components, but rather the
3D model is considered a “container” of the scientific data and not the main aim of
the archaeological study.
