The Roman thin-walled pottery from Sardinia

Miriam Napolitano

Abstract

The analysis of the presence of thin-walled pottery, imported or locally produced, allows the acquisition of important information related to the chronology of the distribution of these drinking vessels in Sardinia from the late Republican age and the Imperial period. Thanks to the study of the earliest products manufactured in central Italy, passing through the productions of the Iberian peninsula, Ibiza and Gaul and observing the latest local production (or productions), it seems possible to delineate an interesting outline which tries to integrate the already known historical and trading dynamics which the island developed with the centers of the Mediterranean.

Keywords: fine ware, barbotine decorated vases, Sardinia, Italy, Spain
